It is now based on the current Clio (the 5th gen) platform, won’t have a diesel anymore and can be had with an automatic :

Seems like 65% of the Sandero sold were in Stepway version, here is the new one :

The base model has a radio but no screen/buttons for it on the central console but can be controlled via an app on mobiles (but also share infos about the car that you would have on infotainment systems ) with a spot to put a phone at the center of the dash ; it can also be controlled by the driver using the radio stalk behind the steering wheel and with the buttons on the steering wheel and the instrument cluster screen.

I know Dacia is a pretty low prestige brand but they seem to know how to make a cheap car appealing. The Duster looks pretty good aesthetically. Strange that they would drop the diesel as don't you guys usually love diesels?

I believe that t he diesel cost too much and as the car already is going a bit upmarket (it had to put more modern engines to abide to the new European “CAFE” ) it would have been too expensive in the end in comparison to other brands.

There is a petrol+LPG engine though and it cost sensibly less than diesel per liter while the engine doesn’t cost more than a diesel one .

Ah, that makes sense. Shocking how cheap those legacy engines can be made once all the tooling is paid off and it is almost all gravy.

Do you know if those Dacia engines run well on LPG? And durably so? Others , like the Mazda 2 of a few years ago, also offered LPG from the factory but the engines could not cope and needed a head rebuild (burnt valves) after 100k km or so. Yet, my Peugeot 406 coupe has had LPG retrofitted when it was a only a few months old. It is now 20 years later, and it has 375k km (367k on LPG) with no issues.

France has not been doing much with LPG, right? I seem to remember it has been almost uniquely diesel for something like 2 decades.

LPG is not extremely common but it never dis ap peared and we have a resurgence of cars lately with the Dacias that were already available with it on the previous gen (but on an older engine) and the Clio and Captur are also available with the same engine as the Sandero, i believe that there are also some VW products.

A friend did buy (to resell) a Clio 3 retrofitted with LPG, i don’t remember the mileage but it was working just fine and he resold it without any issue as there was peoples searching especially for LPG cars and i don’t remember hearing anything bad about LPG cars reliability .

From what i read, the Logan MCV had stopped production 1 or 2 months ago and will be replaced by... a 7 seaters electric SUV based on the Spring concept car...

This one is definitely lavender !

This is really nice looking, especially (but not only) for a cheapy cheapo car. Since it has the same platform as the new Clio it could drive quite nicely as well, looking forward to the reviews.
